When you go to the home page, you’ll see a link in the middle of the page that says, “See the most popular products”.
Click on that link and it will bring you to a page which shows you where the main current interest is.
In the search bar, enter the phrase “trends in shopping” or any variation thereof and see what comes up. You will likely see a list of sites to go to—news articles, blogs, etc., that will alert you to trends in the shopping world.
If something really strikes you as unusual or exceptional, make a note of it, especially if it will have an impact on your own entrepreneurial idea.
Also do a search for “trends in business” and you will come to sites such as www.globalfuturist.com that lists “The Ten Top Business Trends for the New Future”, as well as the following lists:

Entrepreneur Magazine should be “on your desk” every week. Thankfully, you can access it free on the Internet. Many of the main articles are about trends that are pushing themselves upon us every day. You can also do a more comprehensive search of the magazine’s database by typing “trends” in the search bar at the top. That will lead to a fantastic list of articles.
Fast Company has interesting articles that show you the trends across different genres. You can also do a search for “trends” in the search bar and find other results.
You will find an excellent article at http://www.wired.com/business/2012/04/ff_spotfuture/all/ titled, “How to Spot the Future” by Thomas Goetz, Executive Editor of Wired. With his permission, you can download it. As you read it, think of these questions:
1. What trends am I currently witnessing in my city or region?
2. What opportunities might exist for me in my areas of interest?

Here is a list of websites and sources to help you see what is popular or where the trends are taking us. Take some time to look at the websites and read through the lists that are given.
You will find many other interesting articles on the internet. As you do your research, answer the following questions in no more than 3 sentences each and submit your answers to your teacher using a Word document.
1. What is the connection between strategy and entrepreneurship?
2. How could companies maintain their competitiveness?
3. What is the role of innovation?
4. In what area do you think you could excel?
Research like this should be motivating for you to become excellent in the areas of entrepreneurship, strategy and innovation. The business world will be looking for people who excel in these areas.

Conduct research on the main trends of your industry and write a 250-word summary of your findings. Cite your references where necessary. Show evidence that you have included at least 5 sources in your research.
Submit your summary using a Word document to your teacher when you are finished.
