This has happened many times in my life (not the threat of execution part). I pray to God that he’ll help me solve a problem and, if no answer is immediate, I’ll go to bed at night still wondering about it. The answer might come to me just as I’m about to go to sleep, it might come in the middle of the night, or sometimes just as I wake up. This is one reason I keep a pen and paper next to my bed. I’ve even scrawled out notes on my paper without opening my eyes—they may be hard to read in the morning, but at least I’ve captured the idea.
As an example, when I was trying to decide how I would film these courses, I was thinking of the best way to video record the lessons. I didn’t want to just stand at a typical whiteboard but I wanted something that was more unusual. The idea came to me late at night just before I went to sleep that I could paint a whole wall with whiteboard paint. It’s not an original idea, but you have to admit that it’s a little different. The great thing is that we can throw up all these cool images and animations that keep you engaged.
There is a wonderful story about perseverance you can now read. I knew it as the Blue Vase Story, though it also goes by the name, The Go Getter. Read it and submit a 200 – 250 word summary of the story. Remember to reflect on how the story impacts you as a Christian. Include what you think is the key lesson that you can take from the story. When you are finished, submit it to your teacher.
Section 1: The Power of the Idea
Ex 6: Concentrate on Ideas (Cont.)
There is one more secret to concentrating on ideas at a deeper level to uncover a solution – it’s Christ in us (Col 1:27). Sometimes the answer to a problem is hidden from us but the Holy Spirit will reveal it to us when we ask Him. Daniel (in Daniel chapter 2) is our guide in this.
King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream and, wretch that he was, demanded that his wise men interpret the dream for him, even though he wouldn’t even tell them what the dream was. When the wise men protested, the king demanded the execution of all the wise men, including Daniel. Now that’s a problem! Daniel and his friends prayed and it’s interesting that God didn’t reveal the answer to Daniel instantly. The answer came later that night in a vision.
